"All children are our business. We cannot turn our backs on them because we don't know them personally nor judge why these children are homeless. What matters now is that we become accountable and responsive to these kids because they are a part of our future." - Jozef Dominguez

In Santa Fe Arts in the Making has partnered with La Otra Puerta, a
residential drop-in shelter that houses up to 12 at-risk youth at any given
time when they find living at home unsafe or unacceptable.
We will be bringing professional artists with a passion in visual arts or
music into the center to put on two-hour workshops. We welcome the input
of local artists and invite the community at large to volunteer to teach a
workshop or help host a workshop in support of our volunteer art teachers.
AIM is entirely volunteer driven and we rely on donations of time and
supplies to support our efforts.
Quite often the mere presence of an organized activity and a teacher (whether experienced or not) with a
great passion for their craft can be quite engaging to the kids. Our presence breaks the monotony and
gives the teens a chance to experience something a little different from what had been occupying their
afternoons. These kids love to create and participate. They like to learn new things and have something to
do. They are quite proud of the projects they complete, and our ability to encourage their work and praise
their ingenuity has a profound impact upon them. We would love to have you join us in this good work.
