"We must assume personal and social responsibility and accountability so that we again are united with our brothers and sisters everywhere throughout the world. We are all connected. No matter how many miles, oceans, or languages separate us, we are still one". — Jozef Dominguez

Jozef Dominguez, president and founder of
Sierra Dove Global Association as well as
author/lecturer/entrepreneur, is actively involved
in many forms of humanitarian endeavor, ranging
from educational reform to community
development and integrative health care. Areas
of focus at the present time include the
development of innovative literacy programs for
disadvantaged youths and creative curriculum
building in the public schools. Many of the
programs that Jozef spearheads are
implemented first in an under served, ethnically
diverse area of New Mexico before being implemented nationally. In March,
2003, the Ford Foundation, in association with the Advocacy Institute of
Washington, DC, recognized Jozef for his "extraordinary leadership in
tackling tough social problems," and for his "ingenuity, effectiveness,
and high degree of commitment" in responding to some of the most
challenging social problems we face today.
Julia Hope Price, M.A., a writer, artist, and
teacher, has served as Executive Director of
Sierra Dove, since 2002. In this capacity, she
helps develop and implement interdisciplinary
art and literacy programs, especially focusing
on projects that address the needs of
vulnerable populations, such as children with
learning disabilities or autistic diagnoses and
the low-income elderly.
Julia has worked with university teams to
design research studies to document areas of
academic, emotional and cognitive growth for
participants in arts-based programs. She has been instrumental in developing the ALPHA Effect, the
Art and Literacy Encounter, and Eating Smart. She currently serves as Program Director for these
three Sierra Dove initiatives.
Julia’s experience in creating literacy and arts-in-education programs has evolved over many years of
teaching in the public schools. After acquiring a BA and MA in English Literature with Honors, Julia
taught literature and writing at the high school and university levels from 1973-1993. During this time,
she developed interdisciplinary literacy programs for both intermediate and secondary schools. Her
textbook Reflections: A Thematic Reader (Houghton-Mifflin), co-authored with William Barnwell, is an
outgrowth of the years during which she taught literature classes at the University of New Orleans.
